Binary Plan and Unilevel Plan - Which One is better?
I was recently asked this question by one a visitor to network-marketing-made-easy.com. I thought it best to share it with you because it reminded me of a mistake some network marketers often make -- the thinking that one compensation plan can make you more money that another.
Problem is there is no simple answer when it comes to comparing network marketing compensation plans. But let me give you what my view on the matter. And I'll do that by first asking you this...
What's the main reason for becoming a distributor in a network marketing company?
My guess is your main reason to start up in network marketing, or even look at it, is to ultimately make enough money to set yourself free, isn't?
If you are like most people, you want to be free from your bosses...you want to be free to live your life on your terms...and you want to be free from money itself. You want the freedom that comes with earning more money than you can spend.
Whatever your goal, a network marketing compensation plan is only a vehicle to this end. It's not an end in itself.
So comparing the binary plan and the unilevel plan, the better of the will be the one that has a greater potential of helping you reach your goals faster. And this depends on your personality and possibly your attitude to network marketing.

Success in network marketing depends entirely on what you do and has little to do with the type of compensation plan your company has in place.
Own Your Business Or Ship Out: Part 2
A few years ago I received an SMS from my network marketing company. The message was very clear and simple, something like “We are closing shop with immediate effect.”
At first I thought it was a hoax. So I checked with other distributors and they confirmed having received the same message.
The financial impact on me wasn’t that serious since my business was very small at the time. My thoughts went out to distributors who had massive businesses…distributors who were making serious mullah from their businesses.
For example, I knew of a husband and wife distributorship. They had just resigned from their respective corporate positions to go full-time into their network marketing business when the devastating news came through.
What was going on through their minds? How did they feel on hearing the news that their network marketing company was going under?
Imagine it was you. Imagine having poured your heart and soul into your business. Imagine having spent countless hours and money into building your network marketing business. Imagine your business is already at cruise control levels, where your residual income flows in with little effort on your part and out of the blue the news come in…
“We are closing shop with immediate effect. No further orders will be processed. If you had already placed any orders, we will refund you the money you paid.”
And this message comes from your network marketing company.
How would you feel?
You can see just how devastating this experience can be.
For example, I was angry at first – angry at the company and its management. I felt I was taken for a ride.
Fortunately, I soon realised that my anger was directed at the wrong people. The only person to be angry at was myself because I had allowed my company to own my business. I did the recruiting and the signing up of new distributors…
But I did not own that list of distributors. And so did everyone else. This is the biggest mistake you can ever make in your network marketing business. You do not own your business if you do not own your list. In other words your prospect list is yours and yours alone.
And to own your list, be in control of your lead flow. Are you currently in control of your lead flow or is your company or sponsor still dictating to you what you should do? If not, you might be sitting on a time bomb.
It doesn’t have to be that way. There’s a way – a better way to take control of your lead flow. It’s called attraction marketing.
Essentially, attraction marketing involves the use of marketing techniques specifically designed to teach the customer what you are doing and how a service or product will benefit them well before they purchase it. This way you build credibility and trust with your prospects.
And as prospects come to you for more information or advice, they become loyal to you. No matter what happens to your company, they will still follow you wherever you go because of the credibility of you have built.
